Why do they make those girl bicycles with those slanted bars? I understand that they were there so that when a women wore a dress, she could still ride the bicycle. No one really wears a dress and rides a bicycle anymore. So why do they make them?

From what I have seen, the slanted bar is the only difference between a girl and guy's bike. I know that some mountain bikes are adjusted for the female body.

I never understood why womens' bikes were the ones with the slanted bar, while mens' bikes have the bar placed for maximum pain potential. Seemed it should be the other way around.

your stupid..

cycling is done all around the world, and yes its true that majority of ppl do wear pants and jeans, but how many kids wear pants, most kids that i see wear skirts in teh summer.

My cousin for instance is 3 years old and wears skirts all the time during the summer. She is learning to ride on her tricycle. Yes she would wear denim, but its hot.

Anyway the deal is that it comes from days when women wore skirts and long dresses.

Come to think of it, my girl wears skirts and riders her bicycle.

Also the way guys mount the bike is with the leg going over the seat.. women ingenerally put their legs across first and then hoist up.

No, the real question is why the bar has to be straight across like that for anyone...

With the bar straight across like that you are able to make a more structuarly sound bike that can take more abuse. I don't think I've ever fallen on my bike as to enter a world of pain due to that bar. It seems as if it would happen all the time, but I think those that ride know it doesn't.

a little harsh don't you think? It's not like he was mocking girls bikes or making a joke. He asked a straightforward question. No reason at all to respond by calling him stupid.
