ok i am sitting in red robin with my girlfriend and the news is on talking about the plane crash in denver and blaming it on the landing gear.

What i dont get, its not really landing gear, they use it for taking off, taxing, etc.....which clearly takes more time than landing.

I propose we call them "Wheel sticks". Discuss.

Before you ask, yes I am bored.

The real question is, was the plane in Denver on a conveyer belt that moved away form the plane at the exact speed it attempted to move forward? Was that the real reason for the crash?

I hear them referred to as hears most of the time, except on the news when the plane is actually having trouble lowering the landing gear. Added suspense?

this.

or

triple mounted anti-skid projectile-to-surface poly-petrolium based extendable rotationary gear with frictional velocity & directionary control.

The main design of a landing gear is centered around cushioning the shock of landing an aircraft. If taking off and taxiing was the primary function it would just be called a wheel because that's all you'd really need for those maneuvers.

Get this: the "steering wheel" in a car is actually only used to move the wheels from side to side a tiny fraction of the time. I propose we call it the "going-straight wheel".

A "Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter" only interrupts the circuit a TINY fraction of the time, and most of the time behaves just like a regular old outlet.

you use it on the land.
if you are using on the water it is "watering gear".
in the air it would be "airing gear", not to be confused with "air guitar".
