Why is there so much hype over the M's and RS's over the AMG's?

I leave you with these questions, before I crawl into my bed.

Good night.

Maybach seems to be getting popular, though, and those are also a Mercades luxury line.

Basically, you'll see hype generated over whatever car model PR people think is cool at the time. Thanks to gas prices, for example, you're seeing lots more actors and famous people driving Prius's now instead of H2's and Escalades.

Isn't the new M generation also mated to autos?

IIRC: M5 = auto on most auto shows.

Not this again. Queue 50 replies defining an auto tranny.

SMG transmissions have a clutch. The Audi DSG transmission has TWO clutches.

That said, I'd take an M3 or M5 over most of mercede's AMG lineup.

I guess Michael Schumacher's F1 car has a wimpy auto tranny then.

Does it matter? I can name mabye 6 BMW/MB/Audi vehicles I actually like and ZERO I'd actually buy, even if I did have the money.

M-Coupe, M3, SL600/550, SLK350, MB SLR McLaren, CLK-GTR.

Porsche, Ferrari, the Viper, Aston Martin and even Jag's are better value for the money IMHO than any of the these three guys.

If you actually go out and drive a bunch of these cars, you'll have a hard time saying an M3 is a bad value.

I drove a new M-coupe last week, and for $58k, it was a heck of a bargain.

What I meant was that AMG is put on anything with a big engine. SUVs and luxury cars alike.

you think you can you can beat the value of a 60K M3? a car with top end performance and high end luxury? (though you are no longer able to order any more they just discontinued assembly.) what kind ferrari or porsche can you get for 60? a tiny little boxster? a viper isn't even in the same class. jag? i have to lol at that one. aston martin i could believe, but then again i never looked at those.

the M is worth every penny.

True, but what I don't understand is: where's the M7?

the AMG's are quick as hell in a straight line and can even handle well, but they aren't as fun to drive. so "drivers" tend to not be as interested in them.
