why do the 4300 c2ds run so hot?

ur kidding right?

my E6600 would make your 4300 look like a little match.

oh yeah, took you advice on the psu, this corsair 520W is so much nicer than the antec one that came with my case, i like the fact that you can detatch the cables, plus i can run the vcore slightly lower with this psu and still keep the cpu happy

was 58-59 load, with a new block and as5 reapplication it is now:

50-55C load 31 idle

there is a difference between small fft and blend, blend puts the cpu at 50C with spikes to 55C

small ffts alone put it at 54-55C and the AS5 was just reapplied and a new block was installed. (MP-05 removed, swiftech storm rev2 installed)

watercooled

the reason i'm asking about this whoel temperature thing is if you look at anandtech's reviews of various 6XXX processors at 1.5V with air cooling the temps are much lower

if i ran my cpu at 1.5 vcore i can garuntee you that the load temp would be high 60s

also this is the first intel cpu i've owned since 2000, with my experience from A64 x2s, when it got hot you could feel the heat coming out of the radiator, with this c2d 4300 when the cpu gets hot, you don't feel much heat coming out of the radiator, its really strange.

i'm still happy with my oc, i just think the temp thing is strange.
