Why do some people walk around with towels on their head?

Is it for some medical reason?

I was at the mall, and saw a bunch of guys dressed in atheletic wear, with towels on their head. What's the deal with that?

Edit: I looked hard, they were not Sikh or from the Middle East, so lay off the jokes.

im black and dont wear one and it wouldnt be because a rapper.. A do rag is to help produce waves in the hair (reason why many wear them). The towel maybe for the sun or something. Other races do this also and not b/c they wanna be black.

I was at our state fair last night, and there were about 100 black guys hanging around the midway. I'd say at least 75% of them had towels/t-shirts around their head or neck.

Just my observation.
