Why do some people have two cupholders in their computer?

sometimes they retract spontaneously. so if you have two, the likelyhood of them dropping your drink is lower.

Maybe the person is lazy to get a refill when the first drink ran out...so he/she is ready to grab another drink in near reach  ?

hmm, you may be onto something there...i guess if you mounted the cupholders in the very top & very bottom bays in most ATX cases you would be able to get a reasonable cup in the second.

it's extra support for extra heavy cups.

I have that setup and it holds a big gulp just fine.

Do you have more than one shotglass so that you can hot-swap? hehehehe. Shotglasses in RAID 0.

well if the top one retracts, then the bottom one catches it! :) but you have to mod the trays to be smooth. I suggest cardboard + teflon tape

Why mod it? I have a 50-pk of coasters just for that purpose.

I thought it was for bottles. I use one of the silvery coaster thingies in the bottom cupholder, ans slide a tall bottle in thru the top one, till it sits on the coaster. Makes it more stable and less likely to tip and spill...

If you're careful, you can put an insulator sleeve between the cup holders and keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot. This assumes you are getting large drinks, so that the cup will extend above the upper holder.

If you want the drinks hot, just put them in the computer...
