So, for fundie videogamers. "murder fantasy" is OK . . .

but not "fantasy demons" ?

Maybe because in their mind, they associated the "fantasy magic" with witchcraft, and therefore, Satan?

Besides, have you read the old testament?

Murder? Perfectly fine!

Incest? Equally acceptable!

Executing all the homosexuals? Sure thing!

Stoning children for disobedience? Yup!

Genocide against ethnicities determined to be impure? Damn straight!

Performing divination (say, Oija board)? Oh, nonono, that is a SIN!

Working on Sunday? Absolutely not! That's disgusting, what kind of freak would do that?

The problem with many 'fundie' sects is that they use large chunks of the old testament without realizing that Christ's sacrifice completely invalidates that whole section of the bible.*

* Answer given from a 'Christian' perspective, of course. To an atheist, the whole thing is bunk, anyway.

I've had like 6 seperate replies typed up and they all would have just led to a big flame fest so I decided to just say:

There is a big Hypocracy <sp?> with Christians and violence.

Let's be truthful here. Rephrase the question as "Why do uptight, scared, old morons who just happen to be Christians have a problem with "Fantasy/Magic" in videogames . . . "

As a Christian, allow me to tell you that the Christians who have problems with this are sheep. Nothing more, nothing less.

Preacher/MAVAV/some other crazy person or group of people said that those games are t3h evilz0r. Take the demons out, and they're A-OK! They're fvcking morons who can be safely ignored if it looks like they're going to say something.

Killing != Murder

I for one, being Christian, endorse fantasy games. Hell, there are Christian fantasy games out there already :p

No incest is ever done.

Executing all the homosexuals? Sure thing!

Hey, they were warned.

Stoning children for disobedience? Yup!

You know, there's no record of anyone actually doing this, and it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of Christian beliefs... have you ever thought about that?

Genocide against ethnicities determined to be impure? Damn straight!

Wow that's probably the most ridiculous one I've seen in my days.

Performing divination (say, Oija board)? Oh, nonono, that is a SIN!

And your point?

Working on Sunday? Absolutely not! That's disgusting, what kind of freak would do that?

Lack of understanding on what the Sabbath was about leads to not understanding this in the least. Not everyone rests on a Sunday, it can be any day of the week.

Christ's sacrafice does not invalidate the OT. Most of the OT is strictly history, only a little is law.

I guess you've never read the old testament then.

Genesis 19:32-36 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

the fundamentalists question the existence of magic but believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that god exists (and the bible for that matter).

What about the genocide of the nations living in [pre-]Israel?. . . the killing of EVERY man, woman and CHILD.
Incest? Equally acceptable!

No incest is ever done.
ALL of adam and eve's kids. Noah's Grandsons had sex with their sisters. Abraham - father of the jews and arabs - did his half-sister, Sarah . . . Abraham's cousin Lot did BOTH of his daughters.
Executing all the homosexuals? Sure thing!

Hey, they were warned.
No . . . they were'nt . . . only Lot and his incestious daughers.

it is ILLOGICAL from ANY pov. :p

The OT is FULL of LAWS . . . many - including violating the sabbath - were punnishable by death by stoning. :p
:disgust:

Adam and Eve had kids. Then what?

Noah and his wife were the only two humans to survive the flood. Then what?

- M4H

Adam and Eve weren't related. They also weren't the only people around.

Noah and his wife AND his kids and their wives all survived.
