Why do some athletes wear tight bands around their upper biceps?

The only reason I can figure is that it helps keep their blood pressure up.

Pics? Most of the time I've seen this, it has either been a heart rate monitor or a radio.

I don't have any pictures...I've just seen atheletes on tv wearing them tied between their upper bicep and deltoid.

It may have something to do with applying pressure to keep the muscles from cramping. Lots of runners do the same thing with bands just above their calves.

I thought it was just a place where they could easily place something so they can wipe off the sweat from their face (they just have to rub their upperarm agaisnt their face)
