there really isnt much difference between communism and fascism as hitler was kind of like a pro-war hugo chavez. and Stalin became a nationalist/isolationist after WWII if he wasnt always a nationalist.

Because central planning makes it easier to destroy the middle class. Let's drop interest rates on mortgages to 0.000001% so housing prices soar up to the tens of millions of dollars and people stay in debt for 50 years. w00t central planning!

Central planning doesn't work. It didn't work with foreign policy and nation building and it certainly didn't work with the economy.

Many people have the belief that only government can manage the economy and they tend to very ignorant. They don't pay too much to attention to history and all the prosperity that the Free Market has helped to foster.

You don't have to look at WW2 examples. We are witnessing a perfect example in the making today with regards to Venezuela.

The idea of central planning is a good one. The problem is when there is no plan or, the original concept no longer fits the needs of the residents. Then, it's just a mass of policies and bureaucratic fiefdoms. My idea is to hold the dept heads responsible for their actions. Every citizen who interacts with the office fills out a feedback report and drops it in the mail. One per customer. Every employee of the office does the same. At the end of then year, if there's more complaints than satisfactorys, the dept head gets to find a new job. Since, there are more than a few career bureaucrats, if the same dept head gets removed from three different offices, they no longer get to work for the government, local, State or, Federal.

Central planning doesn't work, and people with even a rudimentary understanding of basic economics understands that.

This story was our first assignment in intro to economics

If you think you know enough to be a central planner, you are a fool. An enlightened man understands he doesn't understand much in the grand scheme of things.
