Why do so many AT users hate Musicmatch?

I have to say I've used this program pretty consistently for about 3 years for burning, converting cds to mp3s, pretty much all my music management tasks. ANd a lot of music aficionados I know personally love this program, the ActiveBass community (http://www.activebass.com/resources/review.asp?i=1624) has been singing its praises for years...but I just saw a thread here that trashed it utterly, almost violently. I'm familiar with all the other apps - winamp, nero, etc. and find those to be good apps as well, but what's the problem with mm?

That's odd...in the years I've used it I've not seen a single ad or advertisement at all....I remember learning the interface in about ten minutes and now I could not be confused by it if I tried. Oh well, to each his own, I guess.

I used MMJB for my first attempt at a music jukebox, but its extraction is only semi-reliable and (unlike EAC) it doesn't warn you about read errors. So I'd be listening to a song and -tick!- grrr.

I'm using EAC + FLAC this time now that drive capacities have doubled again. FLAC takes about 1 GB per 3.5 CDs (vs. 10 CDs of 256 kbps MP3) but it's lossless, true CD quality.

Anyone who tried MMJB before the 6 something with a lot of mp3's would not like the product. It has gotten much better over time. But man was it crap for a while.

I've used Music Match Jukebox 7.5 recently. I find it stabler than WinAmp and it rips CD -> mp3 faster. Winamp 3 was uninstalled from my PC shortly after MMJB was installed.

It is a really fast and solid and simple ripper, and I've used both Nero and EasyCD; and the volume leveling feature is something that actually works, particularly for nuts like me that listen to music as loud as our speakers will let us...

I guess I can understand that, since someone mentioned how it didn't notify the user of errors when recording CDs, which was something that annoyed a musician buddy of mine, but recent versions I've used, as he himself pointed out, all have the error correction feature in the setup that you just have to select. I guess its good I didn't use it when it was crap since I have over 500 tracks stored in mine...

I could care less what everyone else uses. People RAVE about Winamp but I personally think it sucks! I've tried a butt load of MP3 players and none come close to MMJB (and I think I started using it around version 5, and I'm using 7.5 now). I have about 400+ CDs ripped and MMJB keeps them organized as hell with CD covers and all. I keep all the songs on the server and anyone on my network can stream music to their PC using one centralized music database. I'm telling you man, MMJB does it all!

Cool, it's nice to know I'm not insane - just to show you what peaked my curiosity as to other opinions, this was the thread:

Right from the start you can smell the hatred for this app; I was almost traumatized. And I, normally, don't put a lot of stock in the random opinions of others, but this was almost poisonous, and very confusing since I actually like mmjb very much....

Musicmatch is probably the best of the "all-in-one" audio programs. It's really what WMP is trying to be.

That said, I don't use it because I rip my CDs with EAC+Lame. This may be debatable, but I think this combo is unbeatable for creating mp3s, and there are a ton of scary fanatic-types that would back that up. And since I don't need MMJB for creating music, I'm not going to use it just for playing it... would be like buying a swiss army knife because you needed a corkscrew. I use to use Sonique for a player, then it stagnated, so it was Winamp until it turned into suck, now QCD player is what I play tunes with.

I plunked down $50 for MMJB 2 years ago and I have never regretted it. It rips, burns, plays, organizes, does everything I need. Great interface, stable as well. They really seem to care about fixing bugs and improving features, unlike a lot of other companies out there.

Everyone hates it because it is a front for Al-Qeida. It's evil incarnate and was written by Osama bin Laden himself!:D

That is odd. I guess it just goes to show how subjective people are.

Maybe we should start rival gangs? ;)
