I haven't read every post here, but some of them. I have nothing against smokers, in fact I believe they should smoke three times more than they do now. May as well kill themselves faster, thus leaving their families to deal with the loss of a loved one, but how long will the pain be, maybe 2-4 weeks. Just until they realize how selfish they were. So smoke on smokers, good times.

Umm, what do you need hard facts for, to know that second hand smoke is bad for you? Think about it, and you'll realize how stupid this is. Take a pack of cigarettes and read the ingredients. How many chemicals are in one cigarette? How much CRAP does cigarette smoke consist of? And you think it would have no unhealthy effect on people breathing this in? WTF? F*ck "HARD FACTS", you don't NEED them to realize that smoke is bad for your lungs. Do you know any chain-smoking olympic runners? :p

I do not know why smokers think it is okay for them to litter, but I also don't know IF they think it's ok to litter. My guess is they don't think littering is good, but they also don't think they are littering. Everyone has their own perception of what's right and what's wrong, and what the limit is to "littering". Almost everyone litters every day. And if you're not littering by throwing some garbage on the ground, please explain to me how throwing your garbage for the garbage men to pick up, is not littering? Our every day lives produce disgusting amounts of garbage. Just because it's not on your front lawn doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So why complain about the smoking? Tons of people smoke, and you aren't going to change that. I just try to avoid being around people when they smoke.

Why do people who eat a value meal from McDonalds or Jack in the Box throw their bags, wrappers and cups in the street in front of my house? Why do people dump sofas and refrigerators along the shoulders of freeways and highways? Why do companies and the government pollute the water table with chemicals? Why do people toss dirty baby diapers on the ground in campgrounds and parks?

Why do some people pick only on the admittedly wrongful and illegal littering of cigarette smokers instead of addressing the whole problem? It's because they are an easy target and it's easy to get people worked up over cigarettes, the tobacco companies and smokers.

I don't think I have anything up my arse - it's just that I HATE STUPID AND LAZY PEOPLE!! Christ, have some respect - if you're going to be a white trash piece of crap and waste your life away smoking, great, enjoy... But don't let it bother others, whether it be through littering, second hand smoke (riding in a car with a smoker with the windows only slightly cracked is the worst), taxpayers paying to have a lung transplant done, whatever.

Don't let your lack of willpower, weakness, and lack of common sense infringe on others' rights and public property.

Hrm...maybe if you would have read the original post, I was talking especially about how dangerous and disrespectful it is to toss burning materials carelessly out your window when there are people riding on motorcycles behind you.

Nope, I don't, but I know a few guys in the Army that can run the two miler in under 12:00 minutes and smoked more than 2 packs a day. (I was one of them until my foot surgeries.)

Using common sense over hard facts has gotten many people in trouble throughout history! Using common sense with hard facts is usually a better route to take.

In light of that post, I have to ask if your aware that your icon is of a long haired boy with what apears to be a cancer stick hanging from his mouth?

Personally I still field strip mine, the little bits are scattered to the proverbial four winds, and it's unlikely anyone will notice them, which is the point. The outer paper will degrade, the inner filter I dont know about, but I think the earth can tolerate a little bit of filter material buried here and there. I've often wondered if it couldnt be mixed with compost to help retain moisture.

Then there's non-filters, if that dosent shut up complaints, nothing will, but then again, nothing will.

They wouldn't =D

The thing is that while they are killing themselves, they are also killing others as well

But for those with the "its my life, i can do whatever i please with it", please note that others also value their life, and smoking degrades the value of their life

EDIT: A little unknown fact about smoking

Does anybody have any figures on how many people die from second hand smoke? I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I would like to compare those figures to things like drunk driving. I mean, it seems like alcoholics, while not accepted, are are show understanding (maybe not by anybody here) and smokers are called "white trash" (by at least two different people here).

Why are smokers so hated?

Everyone need a cause and/or someone to hate. Look around the world, the middle east is a good example. If you took away there holy wars and relegious crap, they would eventually drip down to complaining about things like smokeing and litering. That's how a society works. Some people pass it off as pregression, haveing less trouble providing the basics of life, one looks to the "little things". I think that's cop myself, what's a dumb issue is a dumb issue. You will all die, eveyone of you. This is not a new concept, maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere with no factory's or vehicles poluting the air, maybe then you have a right to b**ch, but otherwise your inhailing more harmfull things and around more harmfull things every single day, as are your children, and your childrens children will be. I'm not going out of my way to give anyone cancer, I dont mind not smoking in public buildings, or in the apartment I live in, but I WILL smoke. Till I die. And past experience has tought me I'll probibly outlive most of the people posting here.

<< The main reason people don't put their cigarettes in the ash tray is because it stinks up the car. Ironic isn't it? >>

or maybe because "everyone else does it"

or to give the prison convict /community service criminal highway cleanup crews something to do.. or city street sweepers.. they are providing jobs for the economy, don't u see. :D

yes i am a smoker, and I'm sorry but i usually toss 'em out the window... if I had to mess with trying to stub it out in my ashtray (sometimes they just won't quit burning) I would not be paying attention to the road and would probably kill many people in a horrible accident, would u prefer that?

Nope, not one person will find hard facts and figures on how many people die from second hand smoke. Why? BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY!!!!!!!! Of course, ask them how many people have died directly from cigarette smoking and you won't find any accurate, hard facts, either. Why? BEACAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY!!!!!

I'll drive, Ramses. Be forwarned that my car doesn't have an ashtray and I don't always have a pop can to put the butts out in so you may just have to toss them out the window.;)
