For the same reason President Obama calls the Affordable Care Act "Obamacare." Politics.

And it's easy to make the average American forsake logic, common sense and even decency for politics, especially the knuckleheads who derive entertainment from this fruitless process.

Obama deserves blame for a lot of things; he isn't a very good president. But this isn't one of those things that Obama should be blamed for.

You can't crash a car, have someone step in to try to rescue victims, and then blame the injuries on the rescuer (whether the rescuer is competent or not) for not rescuing fast enough. You have to face the fact that you crashed the car and that is the true cause of the injuries.

If you want to blame Obama for the crappy recovery, you first have to blame Bush for getting us into the mess. Otherwise you just look like a biased idiot.
I hear ya. I think George Washington bears some of the blame too.

Has NO ONE answered the OP's question correctly yet?!
It came from an interview with an overly-enthusiastic Obama voter who was excited about the things Obama was going to give her:

It went viral:

Very first reply retard.

Also, take a good look. This is the kind of retarded bubble you need to maintain to remain a conservative:

As a person with at least some intelligence, this should give you pause, but I fear you may already be too far gone down the rabbit hole.

I didn't notice that my browser was glitching and not showing random text that was a URL or quoted. Highlighting text and moving it would partially reveal what I was supposed to see. I guess that makes me a "retard":

Thanks for the 100% irrelevant quote of someone else. All I did was answer the question.

You are a horrible person.

Just trying to help knock you out of the echo chamber before it is too late. If that makes me a horrible person then so be it.

Uhh... thanks... I guess.

I'm in the "echo chamber" because I know where it came from (a viral video)? o_O

Read your original reply (post number 2) and assess how you reacted to a simple question with a simple answer even though you knew the answer: Deliberately misplaced blame to attack where it wasn't even warranted.

It's not about who created the program. Conservatives who use it are calling out the entitlement mentality on display in that video.

No. Your recent posts in this forum tell me that you are in the echo chamber. I decided to take this opportunity to point out a glaring example of the absolutely ridiculous logic that is REQUIRED to remain there. Did you read the exchange that took place that ended with that comment by boomer? Please do so if you haven't already and tell me it isn't one of the most ridiculous things you've read.

The blame is not misplaced. Most people that use the term Obamaphone are completely ignorant of the fact that the program started long ago.

"The Lifeline program pays $9.25/month to help people in poverty."

"In 2012, that figure had ballooned to $2.2 billion."

"independent, not-for-profit corporation designated by the FCC"

Someone wanna help me with the math on this? Seems we gotta whole lotta people in poverty. Round it up to $10.00/month, which is about what I am currently paying. BTW, my wife and I have donated 8 phones in the past few years, I am sure millions of other people did as well, where did all these phones go? Me thinks this is yet another government ponzi scheme.

They keep calling the Reagan phone Obamaphone. I am surprised no one corrects this in the media.

He never called it Obamacare, the GOP did.

Grow up.

Is what happens, trying to twist facts non stop, and a lot people are too dense to realize it, apparently.

shrug. who cares? the idea of the phone is great. Poor and disabled should have a "lifeline"

the problem is the fraud on it.

Personally i would like to see it expanded to internet and tv. Comcast does have a free low grade internet for those that need it.

My kids got chrombooks from school. you HAVE to have internet so they sent home a flyer on it. 3down 1up. with a limit on download. not bad for free. (me? i'm on 105 damn i should have moved into town sooner)

Simple: the program does more than just what you mentioned.

Because in 2008 the cost of the program was $819 million. In 2012, that figure had ballooned to $2.2 billion. Fill in the blank: The program was expanded immensely during the Presidency of _____________.

Fill in the blank and you'll know why it's referred to the way it is.

This. Unless something happened between 2008 and 2012 that resulted in millions of Americans getting poorer, it would appear Obama is clearly to blame. :hmm:

Here in observable reality, the whole "Obamaphone" thing is a dog whistle phrase to alert their fellow tribe members of their tribe member status. Living in the south and having family members who are conservatives and bigots in private, the concept behind the phrase isn't too hard to parse out.

They started calling it the Obamaphone because Obama is black, and black people, like Obama, like free stuff, like the Obamaphone. And they vote for whomever gives them free stuff, usually Democrats who hate 'Merrica and take real 'Merrican white people money and give it to the blacks.

They can spin and spin and slobber all over themselves trying to talk through their dog whistles to say something different from the above sentence, but anyone who has functioning neurons and isn't constantly lying to themselves knows exactly why they started referring to it as the Obamaphone.

Jeb(!) recently Trumped it up by throwing the dog whistle away, and just said what they actually believe. Black people want free stuff and vote for whomever gives it to them. And Jeb(!) is just the leader for them, because he'll make them want to work for their stuff like everyone else, who isn't black. Nothing wins you the vote of a minority group better than saying that the minority group is lazy.

When he and his party don't win any substantial portion of the black vote, they'll simply cognitive dissonance-project it away and claim that black people are the real racists.

It'd be hilarious, if it weren't for the fact that their party wins a solid 45% of the vote every 4 years.

Obama corrupts a lot of pre-existing programs, He was pimping phones and food stamps before 2012 election - like a crack dealer giving away free tastes. Oh there's "Obama Phone" alright and lots of prisoners on Dem plantation know about it

"While it’s true that President Obama didn’t launch the cell phone expansion of the Lifeline program, his policies have greatly increased the number of participants, since everyone in Food Stamp Nation qualifies for a free phone. The cost of the program has more than doubled, to $1.6 billion, since the cell phone benefit was added in 2008. It’s absolutely riddled with fraud and abuse, including individual recipients who scored multiple free telephones from the government. And it turns out that one of the biggest companies providing these welfare phones, TracFone Wireless, is run by big Obama donors...Somehow this particular program went from the debatable imperative to put telephones in the homes of the poor, to the utterly outrageous and easily abused dispensation of “free” cell phones to welfare recipients, with big money to be made by those with the political clout to cash in. And anyone who tries to put the brakes on that gravy train will have 7 million “Obama Phone” holders lined up to vote against him."

http://humanevents.com/2012/10/08/top-obama-phone-provider-is-also-a-big-obama-donor/

About the only thing Obama has done with this program was implementing policy to fight fraud. Everything else is the result of Regan, Clinton and W.

The costs of administering the Lifeline program have increased greatly with the move towards cellular telephone services, leading the FCC to approve a comprehensive overhaul of the program in January 2012 intended to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

I thought this whole thing had blown over years ago, but one of my coworkers was whining about it this week. I guess someone is beating the stupid drum again.
