Yeah, I know, if it bleeds it leads. But what do they expect, someone to act like they don't feel bad when something bad happens?

Getting tired of seeing people run over by the tornado being interviewed. It sounded like a train, I thought I was going to die, my stuff is destroyed, blah blah...

Who's that guy on NBC that interviewed Pete Rose after the World Series about three years ago? That guy really ticks me off, most annoying reporter/sportscaster ever!

Whats even worse is that people are so happy/excited to be on TV that they are smiling talking about horrible events.

I was thinking the same thing tonight while watching the late news. The news showed two cars crushed or damaged by fallen trees and mentioned 4000 people (out of over 1,000,000 in the metro area) out of power that should be back on by morning. They interviewed a few people with quotes like, "It sounded like the roof was caving in" or "Just heard this loud boom and the wind was something fierce".

Really? You don't say. I would never have guessed a 100 yr old oak tree falling in a 50+mph wind would ever happen and, much less, fall onto a roof damaging it or taking out a car window.

And do they have to report every single house fire in the city? I know lives lost in a fire are tragic but when some vacant building suffers a singe or two, it's 2-3 min. of the newscast.

Guess that's why I don't typically watch local news.

I love it when the dumbass reporter asks some who has lost everything they ever worked for their whole lives "So how are you feeling about this?" "Well, miss reporter lady, I think it sucks big veiny donkey cocks, how do you feel about it?"

I hate it when they interview the families of soldiers who have died. LEAVE THEM IN PEACE!!! Show some compassion.

A friend of a friend here at my school (yeah I know...really credible eh?) supposedly did his capstone research project on the amount of actual news (I'm sure he had some sort of criteria for determining "actual" news) during the news hour. It boiled down to like only 10 minutes of real news. The rest was devoted to commericals (obviously) and sports being the biggest time consumers. The rest of the time was split with weather, local charity crap stories, lottery and commercials for the news within the news ("Your local news 12 super storm doppler 2000!...blah blah blah.")

I thought that was pretty sad, and only exemplifies why I never watch the local news. Hell, I just view news online anyway.

I agree. I have no interest in watching reporters interview distraught people (for any reason).
