Why do referral farmers always seem to have the Mr. African-American man avatar?

If you frequent the hot deals forum, you know it's fairly common for someone to create a new account and immediately post some "hot" deal whose link is a referral - which is against AT posting rules.

It may just be me, but in the years I've been on AT it seems like these folks overwhelmingly use the African-American avatar? Do they choose this? If so, why? Is it some probationary Anandtech avatar until you reach a certain number of posts (seems highly un-PC to have the black man be the probationary Am I a racist, and have subconsciously "recognized" a pattern where there is none? Do I have an unresolved childhood fear of hot deals from black folks? Please set me straight.

as in, alphabetically, first on the avatar list, and most people hunting for referrals just want to make an account as quickly as possible. It's a good warning flag, anyway.

He's not actually African-American, he's Nigerian, the mods just had to change it so that it was at the top of the list alphabetically.
