Why do programmers always get Halloween and Christmas mixed up?

Oh that explains it then...thing is I've never in my life heard of the Octal system, so perhaps that's why I didn't see th joke. I thought it was a lame pun to do with passing the value of one variable to another

Well, that's probably because they don't use the Octal system in Canada.
