I had my sociology (a vague incite into the blatantly obvious) final today at 9am on our last day of finals. The final was 40 questions 30 multipliable choice and 10 T/F it too no longer then 20min for everyone there.

Now WHY THE FUSK COULDENT WE HAVE HAD THIS AT ANYOTHER TIME.

It only took 20 min we could have had it a week ago for gods sake. It was my only final and I was forced to stay here at school for a week doing nothing because of this. Damn I?m pissed. I could be asleep at home right now :|:|:|:|:|:|

get over it. u only had one final. and besides, it doesnt seem like it was a hard final at all if it took only 20 mins. so u got an extra week to party ur @ss off. trust me...enjoy the college life while it lasts. life gets very boring very quick after that

actually noone was left everyone else i knwo had finals on the 1st day or non at aLl and went home 🙁
 
No sympathy from me either. Deal with it. Where I went to school, undergraduate exams have university-mandated time limits meaning that the professor can't give you a super long exam. In grad school, those rules don't apply. Not only have I had finals on a Saturday but those finals were 4 to 5 hours long and accounted for 80% of the final grade. It's part of the dues you pay in order to receive your degree.

Sooner or later, you're going to realize that the world isn't one big happy place where everybody does what's in your best interests.

 
You guys could have petitioned to moved the final, but generally they set the final schedule before the quarter begins or extremely early.
 
A lot of universities have regulations on when the final has to be held. a professor of mine tried to have the final earlier btu cloudn't move it b/c the school would not allow her to. the final was at friday at 3 PM too.
 
Don't blame the prof too much, blame the administration. They set the times for finals. Put the remaining blame on the prof for not trying to change the time when he knew that the final was going to be that dead simple.

So all exams should be scheduled on the first day of finals? Should tents be erected so there is room enough, and barrels of amphetamine caps be kept handy so everyone can do finals for 24 hours straight?

And did it ever occur to you that the professor might not have chosen the time?

Although I'm not in the class, most of my friends are in a course (required for freshman) called GEEN 1300. Basically, its an engineering projects class where they design and build stuff. For their final project, they had an exhibition of their projects at an expo 2 weeks ago. After the expo, the projects went to a storage room where they were to be picked up (verbal request, like "come pick them up before the end of the semester"). Well some of my friends never went to get theirs and so on the last day of the semester the professor sent out brief emails to those whos projects are still in the room that said "you never picked up your project, I'm failing you". To make matters worse, the head of the departments administrative staff is personal friends with this professor, so any appeals will probably be disregarded.

Such bullsh!t.

From the way my friends were scared sh!tless, I definitely didn't get the impression that it was merely a threat. It just sucks for them :disgust:
 
I've had to take finals on a Saturday. One was for my calculus class . . . I never understood why. Maybe because the test seemed standardised!

GeeeZ! Stop tripping. I'm sure the professor expected the students to have a sense of humour too or be scared. . . . No professor would get away with such policy . . . a lawsuit would be in order. It was just a dry humour/scare tactic!
