Why do PhDs never eat lunch?

Is it because their drive to research and learn is so strong they can ignore the hunger? I've noticed this with PhDs and future PhDs young and old. How the hell can a person not eat lunch and function for another 6 hours till dinner?

WTF are you babbling about? I know about a dozen "ABD" students and they all eat lunch. They eat lunch more often than they work on their dissertations, even. In fact, grad school kind of seems like a binge drinking, home and garden project school to me, based on what they do.

Perhaps they just never learned how to feed themselves properly, or how to cook or even make a basic sandwich. I didn't know much about cooking until I married my wife (Italian), but now I can cook decently. Also, when I get really focused on a project, I can work for like 14 hours straight without taking a meal break. I feel like crap at the end, but it's doable. Might want to ask the department head to get some cheap catering like Subway or something so students don't die of malnutrition and hunger ;)

All the phD I know took lunch break, just not at normal lunch hours

The problem I saw is that they don't eat dinner.
