why do people who do casting always have CSA after their name?

Like in the credits for TV and movies... I know it means they're a member of the Casting Society of America (I looked that up a long time ago), but what's so special that they always have it after their name, like a title? I've never seen a director or producer with a "title" listed in the credits... what's so special about casting people?

I have wondered this myself. My guess is that it is like what you said - some sort of title. Maybe they need to earn it in some way and not just join the society. kinda like md, ph.d, ccm, aap, ...

Because it's not like any association that you just *join* -- you have to have experience as a casting director AND be sponsored by 2 current CSA members, hence earning you the title and membership. Kind of how you need the voucher to join the SAG.
