Okay, all you arrow-key people get out of my thread, play your game of choice with a reasonable config for an hour, come back and maybe we can help you recover from your brain damage.

j/k

Really just try one any of the other configs, you'll probably like it after getting used to it.

Arrow keys for movement
ctrl = crouch
shift = jump
Num0/ins = walk
del = reload
end = something else
pgdwn = something else
enter = something else
Mun1/end = something else
?/ = something else
~# = something else

Then you have your mouse buttons (4/5 if you really play games 😛)

Plenty of buttons
With WASD there's always a chance of hitting other keys around, and with big fingers that can be a problem 😛

Yep, handy in games where shift is run. Also, if you use EDSF, hitting ALT requires you to dislocate your thumb...

I use left shift to go forwards, A to go back, S to strafe left and D to strafe right. I'm like the only one 🙁 Oh, and I gotta have inverted mouse.

I'm going to try and switch. I hate being like everyone else anyway. 😉 Another plus is that you'll find your placement better since 'F' has that little abraised area. Going to test it out now. 😀

Nah:

Up-Forward
Down-Backward
Left+Right-Strafe

NUM1- Pick up item
NUM0- Zoom/2nd fire
Ctrl- Crouch

Mouse1- Fire
Mouse2- Jump
Mouse3- Use
Mouse4- Lay prone
Mouse5- Reload
MouseWheel- Change weapons

I used WASD because its right where my hand is when I use the arm rest on my pc chair. Plus ESDF feels really weird and entirely wrong. I have plenty of keys available- left control, shift, tab, q, e, r, t, y, h, g, f, b, v, c, x, z, space, and numbers 1-5 are easily accessible.

The major difference between WASD and ESDF is the use of the left shift / tab. With WASD, I can click shift perfectly and comfortable with my pinky. This is my jump key. It is crucial. I hit it like 9000 times. Now, I hit tab with my ring finger. This allows me to continually move while checking scores.

Everything flows.

i thought the gamed had control paddles to make it easier?
and the car games had steering wheels to buy,to make it more realistic?

oh well i don't play games on my pc,
if i want to play with a toy,i go out in my 1967 Camaro.

Thats a Real toy car!

🙂

Frankly I have a bit of a modified WASD layout. It's more of a WASDX layout I guess you could call it

W - Forward
A - Strafe Left
S - Crouch
D - Strafe Right
X - Back

The rest of the stuff, weapon changing and what not I have assigned to my mouse. Like middle click is reload.
