If you have the Nextel service, which I use, you get Unlimited Walkie Talkie. I own the Motorola i860.
No, actually, a lot of Nextel plans do not include unlimited Direct Connect service.
I use direct connect whenever it's available, when I need to make short communications with people... I just think it's easier than having to make a full phone call for... there are more steps involved in answering a call, talking on the phone, etc., then there are in pressing a button, giving a short answer, and releasing the button. It's also a heck of a lot easier to ignore a single dc chirp than it is to ignore a phone that is constantly ringing, if you are doing something and cannot answer the call at the moment.
Yeah, there are a lot of people that abuse direct connect, and they get on my nerves too.
My plan costs 59.99 a month. I get unlimited walkie talkie, and free incoming calls.
...congrats?
I edited my post.
Dang. They must have switched to unlimited sometime since I last reviewed the plans and phones at my last office. (Last winter) Most of the plans I saw at the time included 500 or 1000 minutes of D/C.
