Why do people use $50 bills?

This guy handed me a $50 for a pizza. What am I supposed to do. I don't have a huge stash of cash on me. People pay with $20s usually. Come on. What the hell is this?

I had to trust the guy with the pizza and make a few runs to other places and come back with enough change. Geez, what a hassle.
