Why do people think claritan-D is so good?

so I started taking claritan D expecting some big difference...then I noticed the ingredients...it's just an anti-histamine (like chlortrimaton), mixed with pseudanephrine (sudafed). Boo to drugs pretending they're revolutionary when they're the same stuff that's been around for decades

Just buy the generic stuff - does the same thing, but is much cheaper. I use the stuff daily to help with my cat allergies, and there's no difference at all, with the exception of the impact on my wallet.

Good luck getting Sudafed, generic or other, here in the Pacific NorthMeth. Frist it got taken off the shelves, then they card you for it, now you need a percription!

I believe Claritan and Allegra used to be prescription drugs, but a couple of years ago were re-classified to OTC.

You are correct, but Allegra is still RX because of the heart problems it can cause.

That being said, I just by the generic antihistimine and psudeosupedrine seperate and take both, I have been doing that for over 2 years now. But, I have actually stopped taking them for the past couple of months because I renewed my flonaze rx.

Uh yeah. Anything with 'D' in the name means Decongestant, ala Sudafed. Remember Seldane-D?

Claritan doesn't do jack for me. I gotta use Flonase.

Yup. Zyrtec D contains the active ingredient for Zyrtec + Sudafed. Sudafed acts as the decongestant. So Claritin D has the active ingredient for claritin + sudafed for its decongestant power.

Allegra has been the only allergy medication to help me at all, Claritin, Clarinex, and the antihistamine you find in loads of OTC products (chloro-something) are useless. As for the -D slapped onto medication names, all it really means is it has pseudoephedrine in it, and now I prefer buying Allegra-D 24 because 24-hour phenlyphrineineinaiuog980y34eh09as (Sudafed PE) doesn't exist.
