Why do people think 16 yo Wolfgang "Wolfie" Van Halen is just filling in?

Surprised no one has mentioned this. Many think he is just a fill-in because Michael Anthony is busy or something.

Michael was pretty much replaced at the last reunion when he was forced to take a smaller cut of the royalties. He is still listed on songwriting credits (as is all of the band) since he shares ownership as a band.

What I find it sort of embarrassing is this 16yo is in the worst shape of the whole band.

I understood it as M. Anthony wasn't invited back. Eddie asked him to quit hanging out with Sammy but he won't do it so Eddie is pissed off.

It is what it is, VH just hasn't been the same for me since Sammy left. I still cherish their Van Roth/Van Hagar stuff, but the band in its current form is less then enthusing.

MA is required for VH

no one wants to see some fat fuck 15 year old who probably needs to use open tunings so he can slap his hamfists against the frets to make logical chord phrasings.

That is a hilarious mental image.

I've heard he's actually pretty good and should be considering who his dad is. That doesn't change the way I feel about the new Van Halen though. I won't be going to this concert.

The kid is talented. He has been sort of molded since birth though...even via his name, after Mozart.

He doesn't embody the spirit of Van Halen.

That said, neither do the rest of the guys anymore. It's sad to see such a bullshit moneygrab attempt from a band who hasn't been relevant in over 20 years. Who wants to be in their 50s playing songs they wrote in their 20s? Sad.

Hang on, let me give Keith Richards a call and find out.

I recently saw Rush and they are as good as ever. I would consider seeing VH in it's original form or with Hagar instead of Roth. But not in it's current form.
