Why do people still have custom ring tones for their phones?

Does it really bother you that much if you are walking done the sidewalk and someone's cell phone goes off? People need to learn to turn their phone of silent and not answer them in some places, such as class, movies and the library. But that has something to do with human stupidity, not their ringtone.

seriously. what the hell is wrong w/ using your phone in a public place - isn't that the fvkcing point of a cell phone? when are you supposed to use it, at HOME?!?!!?

and the point of having custom ring tones is so you know when YOUR PHONE IS RINGING AND NOT SOMEBODY ELSE'S. this is particularly helpful on the weekends. in a group of about 4 or 5 people, we'll probably received 25-30 phone calls a night - you bet your ass i'm not going to put down my beer, take my hand off my girl's ass, and reach inside my pocket 30 times.

I don't feel half the times my phone vibrates when I have it on silent.

Worse than the Nokia Tune, is the polyphonic ring tone.

It makes Baby Jesus, Mary AND Joseph cry.

I can't feel vibrate, even if it's in my pocket.

exactly

the new ones don't even come with basic ringtones. no ring ring like a phone. so it's either some annoying ring-like variant, or a custom one. they're both equally annoying.

Yesterday in my polisci class of about 200 people, someone's phone went off and played "Hail to the Victors" for about 20 seconds before the person could silence it. I wanted to shoot her myself.

Heh. Interesting story I have. Yesterday two phones went off in two seperate classes. Both were the professors phones and one of them took the call out in the hallway. I always set mine to vibrate, but one I day I didn't lock my keys and it went into normal ring mode. I was sitting there trying not to fly asleep and my phone starting ringing. I tried to grab it out of my pocket, but my jean pockets were really tight around the phone. It took me a good 10 seconds to get it out, so I hung my head in shame. Thankfully my University is a really relaxed place, so no one gave a sh!t. I do agree that loud personal ringtones in publics are aggravating, but what is really annoying is Nextel's bs.

Anyone who uses a cell in a public are is a jerk. Especially if they talk loud enough for anyone within 20ft of them to hear.

20ft? You'd have to be talking pretty quietly...

My wife & I just got new cell phone and she immediately downloads a new ring tone. A few days pass by and she hear my phone ringing and says, ?I really like the ring tone which one is it?? I reply, ?It?s the default tone.?

😀

i really hate polyphonic rings. I don't mind the tunes, but polyphonic sounds like a bad tape recording

my phone is rarely ever on ring, but i do like the custom tones. otherwise i would never answer my phone, cause I would assume its someone else's

As long as its not in a place where you are supposed to be quiet (movies, library, class, etc) , I don't mind a cell phone ringing. What I do find funny is old people and cell phones. When a cell phone rings in a public place, all the old people look for theirs cause there might be a chance it is theirs. Then they take it out and look at it for a few seconds, trying to find the "talk" button. Hilarious.

I guess she's not aware of people's fantasies.
I polled 100 people on the street and 82 said that they "strongly agreed" or "mostly agreed" with my comments 😛

If some loser off the street has the time to answer such a stupid poll that's probably why.

I need a personal ring tone as almost anywhere here in S. Florida you will hear cells ringing all the time. My calls are important and a missed call is a lost sale.

Now those that have them so loud and do 2 way conversations loudly are rude. However, talking on a cell in public is why you have a cell. It should be no different than talking to anyone else in public.

Of course just like talking in public, there are times you are supposed to be quiet/off the phone: Movies, theatre, when someone is waiting on you, etc.

Agreed.

PSA: cell phones cost less than land-lines nowadays. Having one does not make you look cool. Thinking that your cell phone makes you look cool and showing it off in fact makes you look like poor trash.
