Why do people sniff paint/glue?

I'm doing some work on my apartment today and am stripping the paint off of the radiant water heater covers we have here. I've got all the windows open and all the fans going, but I still managed to accidently get a really strong whiff of this paint stripper at work. Like really big. I've got a headache and am feeling kind of high I guess right now, but it sucks. It's not very pleasant at all. I'd much rather be drunk, or better yet, sober right now.

Really makes you wonder when you know it just does some very nasty permanent things to your brain.

People do it to get a cheap high. When people are getting high, do you really think they're thinking about permanent brain damage?

Same with huffing paint, braincells die, peeps feel good till they sober, then they hurt, seek high again.

Well I don't feel good is what I'm trying to say. I've got a headache and feel dizzy... and a little of that numbness you get when you drink. But it feels like a sick kind of high. I much prefer the effects of alcohol, and it's about a million times safer, given a relatively responsible person. You can find cheap alcohol instead of cheap paint thinner I'm sure, so why not go with the booze?

And heck, I think you've got to have some brian damage already to actually want to sniff that stuff.
