Why do people ramble on and on about their kids...

We have someone at work that is constantly talking about how smart her son is compared to the other kids in his class to everyone. She says she's constantly getting him tested and it's IQ is around 180. She says he has already mastered all basic math and he's only 9 yo. Did we all have addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division pretty much mastered by age 9-10?

Well, he came walkin in yesterday with her and he walked over to my desk and just started staring at me. Didn't say anything, but was just chewing on a toy and staring. So after about a minute or so, I turn around and say "Hey!" and he says "Hi." He didn't seem that smart to me so I asked him "So you know how to multiply huh?" and he said "What? What is that?" So I said, "what is 2 * 3?" and he says "Ohh we were just learning about this in school, that's 4 silly!" I then asked him another couple of questions and let's just say the only one he got right was "How old are you?"

Anyway, number one, I hate when people bring their kids to work and just let them run around the office wild. They take no responsiblity for them and don't mind when they bother other people who are trying to work. Two, I think it's just pathetic that she needs to make up stuff about her son to make herself feel better. She must have some type of inferiority complex of some sort.

ANyway, I could be wrong about all this... but I don't think so. Some people are so freaking phoney! :|

I don't know...

My kidd (4 y.o.) seems to be smarter in school than he is at home.

Teacher says that he knows something....ask him about it at home..."I don't know"

I also think he knows how to play mom and dad to get what he wants....I give him credit there.

Although...I'm onto him and his devious ways... :)

Hopefully his pride and joy doesn't go freaking people out at the office.

A sad truth, making up for things they may not have had and pushing undo pressure on their kids.

As a general rule, people with children enjoy forcing their children and ways of thinking on other people, especially people with no children or people that they THINK don't have any children. Generally, today's parents feel that EVERYONE should give up their own lives and interests and focus on the kids. 99% of the people I work with are like this.

When I eat in a restaurant, whether it be Mickey D's or an upscale $50 a plate place, invariable, two yuppies that are totally devoted to their "little angels" will plop down next to my table and their little demon-seeds will proceed to scream, cry and fling french fries every which damn way.

I have taken to throwing the food back onto their table, just to make a point. :|

This country is a very kid-centric society as a whole; it is percieved as normal to have 4,000 pictures of your kids on your desk, have no weekend time to yourself b/c you're running the brats around to ballet, soccer and boy scouts.

I love it when people assume that just b/c I wear no wedding ring that I don't have kids. I have a seven year old son. He is a HUGE part of my life, but he is not my entire life. I had a life before I had a son. I continue to have a life.

Not all kids are brats, but it seems those that are stick out a whole lot more than the good mannered ones.
