This disease is one with just about the highest survival rate (92% survival rate) of all cancers, yet it is the one that is funded the most. Why aren't cancers like stomach (one of the leading killers) researched more?

Well, I know they don't fund prostate cancer more, because more women get breast cancer than men get prostate cancer...oh, wait...

That's for stage 1. Now you have to figure out do women really detect them that early? I would say no, i would say the average would be stage 3, inwhich case the survival rate is 39%... but i'm unsure on that, you'll need to get the numbers and determine which stage really has the highest numbers.

there are alot of people that know people that have had breast cancer

a lady i worked with from '98-'00 had it, she had surgery and is ok, but it effects a lot of people, i would say that is the main reason

I was just about to post that men can get breast cancer. When I first heard it I thought it was a bunch of bologna, but after further investigation it appears to be true. I guess we can add that to the list of things we need to watch out for.

The fact that it is one of the most funded cancer researches may have a lot to do with the 92% survival rate. But the publicity that it has is probably more of a factor because it has educated women and encouraged them to look for the early warning signs of breast cancer. :)
