It was already pointed out why some FWD cars might actually have a use for spoilers. Rear lift on any car will lead to "squirrely" behavior which is not good.

That may be true if the undersides of cars where aerodynamically clean, but they aren't. With a cat, muffler, exhaust system, and other parts of the floorpan along with brake lines and fuel lines that dirty up the airflow, it is impossible to generate the smooth airflow needed to induce lift. The closest car that comes to that is a late model 'Vette.

That said, I don't need a huge fin or a 'Whale vaginia" to get there.

My unmodified '91 Sable will get me there and back. And guess what, ricer boy? regardless of how many levels your spoiler or how many stickers or paintjobs or modified fronts you put on your car . . . . . my car will win in any collision with your car. Know what else? it will be your dumb fault, and I will ream you for every penny you are worth. I'll find some way outside of insurance .. . or i will just ream your insurance for so much that your monthly pament is more than 10 grand.

BWA!

..and they say ricers are immature.

seriously. sometimes i dont know who's worse

Didn't you KNOW that?!?!?

THE ONLY other "bolt on" that adds more BHP is a "R" sticker.

Of course it has to be yellow!

Look at Volkswagen and the Beetle. They had many complaints about the Beetle's stability at high speed so they put the retractable spoiler on some of the models.

If your car isn't a Porshe or similar, you should not have a spoiler. News flash: your Civic will never get any beneficial downforce from that double decker thing that you screwed onto the back of your car.

What about the Civics in the Touring cars league? What about the one sin the TOCA leagues? They sure as hell push out, handle and out perform most production cars on a race track.......

How many kids from the burbs racing from red light to red light own a touring civic and are in a league?
Huge spoilers are just out of place on what are essentially stock road cars.

Yea normal spoilers look halfway decent.

What I cant stand is the ricers who put on the HUGE spoilers, like on the lancer evolution, which look totally ridiculous and ugly.

This pic makes it look better than how it actually is

dont ever call an evolution rice because it just shows your ignorance

I was commented on how ricers put large spoilers on their car similar to the size on the lancer evo, not that the evo itself was rice.

Smooth flow under the car creates downforce, not lift.

There are a few fast Civics running around...I saw a video of a stock-*looking* Civic hanging pretty good with a Viper..so don't judge everything by appearance..😛

I don't judge everything by appearance, but you sure jump to conclusions fast.

I bet that 90% of kids with big spoilers on their civics or other econoboxes, arn't running anything more than stock

I didn't jump to any conclusions..I'm just saying. Is that cool? Did I not say "few"?

I also can't wait to see people come back in for new struts because the lowering springs they put in are to short for the struts they are using and are just bouncing off the springs and thrashing the struts.

I'll need new struts soon... well worth having the lowering springs in there though.... look so much better and handling is improved 10 fold... struts don't cost that much, they usually last 2-3 years.... meh.

Are you sure handling is improved 10 fold?

End of story is: you may not like it, but ITS NOT YOUR CAR.

Unfortunately, we have to look at it if we're driving near it... ewwwwwww.
I've seen a lot of "park benches" lately... 2Rice2Ridiculous is only encouraging them. Crap. Makes me sad that I have a factory spoiler on my car. I also autocross and I wish it did do something for me at high speed. The rear end of the car is really light in comparison to the front.

heh, i cant beilive no one has brought up the "truck spoiler"

were some people hispanic descent (sp) like to put a spoiler on the rear bed of their f-125

Which Beetle are you refering to? The original Beetle was RWD and not FWD.

@Wink

A smooth underside will allow for lift as airspeed remains the same (higher pressure) compared to what is flowing over the top (less pressure) of the car unless the underside is slightly concave. Indy cars use that to help stay on the track better and they are only scant inches from the track surface if that.
