Why do people put signatures in their posts?

I turned of signatures because I don't like seeing the repatative text. If I want to see who the post is by, I'll look to the left. Why do you do this, it's annoying...?

What I mean is that you're just some noob who wondered in off the streets, yet you have an avatar hosted on another server, and nobody else can do that. Are you freakin Jesus or what?

That's just a sig, it can be turned off through an option, Viper gTS and aquaman actually have theirs sigs in their posts.
