Why do people mow the lawn in shorts?

Deer flies can, but the spray doesn't really help with them, so I just wear a hat.

At home I wear shorts just cause of the heat.

At my parents cottage, when I get stuck having to mow there, I wear jeans because of the height of the weeds and the poison ivy that grows like mad around there.

I disagree with the flip flops. My dad is missing 2 toes because he lost his footing. Mowers are more dangerous than they look unless you have a perfectly flat property. Just be careful.

but seriously rocks can get thrown from under the lawnmower if its not adjusted correctly and cause some damage to your shin/leg area
