I noticed my girlfriend moved with the charactor, in pandomonium (PS1 game).

She was doing this and I never got why, I dont move a muscle when I am playing, except the obivous finger and hand movements for the controller. She is weirded out that i DONT move...why do people do it...and a lot of girls ive noticed do it.

I noticed some people move their head side-to-side while strafing in an FPS game. It's even better when people move their head a little bit while trying to quickly peek around the corner in a video game.

Perhaps it is some sort of natural reaction?

Back when SMB was new, people used to jerk the controller up when they wanted the character to jump.

My uncle used to move it to the left/right when he really wanted the character to get out of the way of something too.

When the Wii comes out, people will have to learn how to do these things all over again. :)

Fixed.

The point of the controller is it uses the natural impulses we have been trying to suppress whilst playing games and turns it into a way to immerse you further into the game.

me too..but that's the extent of my "movements" while gaming.

sometimes though..i could be doing totally innocent real life things..like driving..and randomly feel like pressing the "space bar" so I can jump. But that was when WoW was a big part of my life. While running around in the Barrens I'd randomly press the space bar a lot so my character jumps and is less boring. It's weird..but yea. lol.

bunny hopping makes boring runs less boring. if you do a few spins in midair it makes it even less boring.

whenever I'm trying to turn hard or go faster, I lean, especially on a console.

when I play super smash bros, I do all sorts of crazy things, including sound effects.

yup yup. Some people get so involved that when the character takes a big jump, their body tightens up as they prepare the big stop at the end. Happens to me every time when playing LoZ:TOoT. hahah.
