Why do people/media still use Mr. Obama?

This is really funny. Why is he still referred to Mr. Obama instead of President Obama? He is our President and should be referred to as such.

Oh no, don't get your panties in the bunch.

IIRC AP guidelines are to refer to him as President Obama and subsequently Mr. Obama. Same as all the other presidents.

I'm not getting my panties in a bunch. I am very curious why he is forcing his "world view" nomenclature that is in direct discordance of America. -edit- More why he is being called this. I would address him as Sen. Obama before the election.

To me he is Barack. Mr. Obama seems very disrespectful of his position unless he wants to be called that in Asian or Muslim culture.

Well, IIRC, some newspaper style guides refer to the president as Mr. after the first "President Obama" mention.

You'll have to refresh my memory as I am not connected to any media outlet. I don't think I've seen Mr. Bush used in such light? In fact I don't recall any such thing used. Depending on the slant of the news/article it was "President Bush or Bush" used in nominative case.

Why now so much Mr. Obama?

Mr. Bush was used constantly by any number of media outlets across the world. It was extremely common from every possible media source left, right, and center.

IIRC, even Fox News sometimes called Bush "mr." during his presidency. This is common, AFAIK.

You must not read newspapers much if you haven't read or heard "Mr. Bush" in print many, many times. It has been common place now for I don't know how many years.

Uh... for the media to refer to the President as Mr. Obama, Mr. Bush, Mr. Clinton, Mr. Reagan, Carter, Nixon, etc etc etc is NORMAL.

WTF.

OP this is what happens when you see and hear everything through your partisan lenses and partisan hearing-aids.

Everyone referred to GWB initally as President Bush and then subsequently Mr Bush.

same thing with Clinton...Bush Sr Regan bla blabla bla

Must be because they all know he's a Kenyan Muslim and will eventually be found out publically.

He was just trying to divert attention away from a faux pas in another thread.

He did seem especially unhinged tonight, though.

OP seems to be all over the place with his query.
First he wonders why President Obama is referred to as "Mr. Obama". He then throws out some weird "why is he forcing his worldview nomenclature" , WTF nonsense in the mix. Like I guess he is implying Pres. Obama is making these people call him that? After that, he says 'To me he is Barack.'
He then throws out some Muslim/Asian culture nonsense. Still not sure why that has bearing on the argument. I have my suspicions based on his past posts, but I'll just leave that alone.

So while OP is questioning why President Obama is called Mr. Obama, OP does the same thing he is accusing others of, which is addressing him in a casual fashion.

Weird. Or off meds. Or trolling.
Or all three.

One Beautiful Ass Move, America! :p

You have been uninvited to the vast right wing conspiracy luncheon.

And I was told that we were going to sit around and make jokes about Obama dying. I am so bummed.

I agree that it should be 'President Obama', but as Vic said, they've been doing it for years now with all of the past presidents I've been around to see in office. I have noticed that it seems to be more prevalent with Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama however.

You've made 11338 little ones, you should like mistakes by now.

On a side note for all the fanbois posting here: You guys really weren't much when your fearless leader was in office but I assure you, the quality of your posts the past 6 months or so have taken dumb/childish to a whole new level. :cookie:
