Why do people like to flip their flap jacks?

What you do is pour your flap jack batter on the hot cast iron griddle. Then when the corners slightly brown take it off and out it on the plate. Now you have the crunch on the bottom and the gooey on top. Its a win win.

Those are a little undercooked. Wait until the bubbles pop.

Why flip your flaps, Jack? For the same reason a chicken crosses the road . . . to get to the other side.

I have recently rediscovered pancakes, the mixes that use oil, milk and eggs are far superior to the water & mix variety.

I don't know what is worse on these forums:
1) the raging morons who lose their shit over the little things (gift cards, garage doors that don't withstand a speeding car ramming into it)

or

2) the trolls that pick the worst things to claim is actually good (raw pancakes, Zune)

Fuck you! The Zune was awesome as an MP3 player. It just didn't have the support or marketing it deserved!

Dunno, I haven't made pancakes in seems like years. I've got a cool waffle iron that is a total no brainer, and a system.

Proctor Silex 26070 Belgian Waffle Baker

I make a powdered mix ahead of time consisting of egg powder, nonfat dry milk powder, salt, baking powder, store it in a bottle. I weigh out a prescribed amount of that (.90 oz.), add a prescribed amount of white and wheat flour (total 2.50 oz.), 4 oz. water, 1/2 oz. of olive oil, mix with a rubber spatula while the waffle iron is heating. Nowadays I mix an ounce of chopped dates into the batter, too. Pour into hot iron, sprinkle raw sesame seeds on top and close the cover, press for a couple seconds. It's done in another ~5 minutes. The iron stays clean, never have to oil it. No need for syrup later with the dates in there. When serving, I like to pour some homemade kefir onto the waffle sections.

Pancakes are cool, but these waffles are easy and never miss, I don't have the high maintenance of flipping pancakes.

I take it you are a well done kinda person? If so just order chicken then. :colbert:

Put a 1/2" of lard in the pan and deep fry the edges. The pancake comes out like an elephant ear at the carnival. Now THAT'S eatin' :)

i do like waffle making, but i like making my own mix. either with egg whites or yeast. those waffles sound like all the fun has been taken out of them. /wheres the fried chicken

buttermilk also is a win. especially in pancakes.
