To each his/her own. My dog isn't all that yappy (toy poodle), but it's a lap dog, and I :heart: her 'lots.

Nope. Most of the time that man is just trying to compensate for something else.

I like medium sized dogs the best. Some of the smaller breeds are ok but they do tend to be louder then your average dog it seems. Big dogs, like some of them but thing I hate about the really big ones is the drool that just drips down from their mouth and you can't even rub them under the chin without getting a hand full of slim.

A pet should be a toy... as in toy dog. It's like having a little baby to play with for 15 years.

Big dogs are way too cumbersome to serve the same role.

Eh, I plan on getting a welsh corgi. Small, but not that small considering it'll get to ~25-30 lbs. I also want to get a second dog, possibly a yellow lab for my hunting trips. Heck, I'll probably bring both.

We'll be getting a dog in a year or two. My two kids will be at least 5.5 and 7 by that time. We don't want a big dog jumping on them and we don't want a dog we have to keep outside all the time. What point is there in owning a dog if it's sitting in a kennel outside 24 hours a day? Living in the midwest, our neighborhood is FULL of people with big Golden Retrievers, Black labs, Golden Labs, etc. that leave their dogs caged up save for the one or two weekends a year they go hunting.

Our dog will be a family pet that our kids can enjoy and learn some responsibility with.
