Why do people lie?

I deliver food for a local restaurant and I had a delivery today to the front desk of a hotel a few blocks away. The check was for something like $8.90 and she tells me that since she is broke and is going to have to give me 90 cents in change. Then she tells me she is going to 'hook' me up next time. The problem is Ive gone there about 3 previous times and she has never tipped me anything more than just rounding it up the next dollar (ie she would give me $9 for the $8.90 bill). What is she going to do...toss me an extra dime next time?

She last ordered last week so Im sure she remembered me. Does she actually think Id believe her? I can live with someone not tipping but why do they have to promise me a large tip next time when they know they arent going to?

Well Ive always received tips from the people staying in the hotel so it can stay. Maybe Ill just burn down the front desk

WTF. Paying with a check? Is she a deadbeat or something? I pay cash only on deliveries, or ccard over the phone if I call into like Dominos or something. Never check, I HATE checks, I hate people that write them and waste time on piddly crap like that.

Ha, I could never do that. Im not going to try to get any revenge on her or anything. I just wont be in any sort of hurry next time. I usually make any stops for gas, drinks or piss breaks before known non-tippers. I also make sure I take the turns really fast

Sorry, I didnt mean that kinda check. I should have said her bill was $8.90. We dont take checks unless the owner knows them and even then she hates them. Too many people bounce them.
