Why do people here use the word "RICER" to describe wannabe hot roders??

And I say people "here" b/c I've never heard the term used outside of the forums, plus when I look it up I get the definition:

ric·er (rsr)
n.
A kitchen utensil used for ricing soft foods by extrusion through small holes.

Which I know you guys aren't talking about. So lets examine this. From my observation someone is a ricer if they put stickers, cheesy spoilers, and other exterior modifications that may give the impression their car is faster, more stylish, and overall puts out a higher performance than your average car. Normally driven by young men.

So I don't understand where the origin of the word "ricer" comes from. Why not call them wannabe hotroders, or pseudo racers? Perhaps I'm missing something here. But right now it doesn't make sense.

Next week, I will discuss why the word "library" should be changed to a word with "book" in it.

The term ricer comes from Harley Riders making fun of guys that drove japanese motorbikes, as burning rice for fuel, or simply rice burners.

Later that defenition expanded to mean all japanese vehicles.

Some people also use it to mean

<< From my observation someone is a ricer if they put stickers, cheesy spoilers, and other exterior modifications that may give the impression their car is faster, more stylish, and overall puts out a higher performance than your average car. Normally driven by young men. >>

It's a derogatory term for dumb asses that try to make their 88HorsePower civics look fast.

Don't get me wrong there are lots of nice japanese cars, the latest generation Toyota Supra TT is one of my favourites. The Nissan Skyline is also a nice car. There are plenty, but when someone takes a civic and tries to make it look fast by putting big wings and stickers on it, that's a ricer.

that pretty much sums it up. it applies to any car - civis, neons, hyundais, mustangs, etc. the car usually has a spoiler large enough for a 747, and big fatty watermelon shooter muffler. check out the riceboypage to see some good examples.
