Why do people have to steal?

My car got "broken" into last night (doors unlocked) and they attempted to steal my cd player, and took a blanket I had in my backseat. If somebody really needed a blanket that bad, thats fine, but why do people feel the need to steal? btw, I leave my doors unlocked because I'd rather let someone get inside and see that there's nothing to steal besides a circa 1994 Kenwood cd player that doesnt play cds than have a window broken. I'm glad I didnt have anything valuable inside, but it still bothers me

you're going to get a reaming from members here for leaving it unlocked. That is not so smart. You do have a cd player, no ?

To answer your question, because it's easier than earning things. Why do people cheat on tests or cheat in games?

Because humans are greedy. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor.

yeah, somebody tried to steal it once already and ripped it apart, and I superglued it back together so the radio would work. I dont think I could sell the thing for $10 if I tried.

Thats what I was wondering . . . leaving the doors unlocked takes away a lot of the effort.

And plus, would the insurance company cover if the car did get stolen and stripped?

Easy. It'll go a little something like this:

Cop: "How did you break into this car?"
Thief: "I didn't break in, it was unlocked."
