Why do people hate on mayonnaise so much?

It's just egg whites and vegetable oil, and like some lemon juice garlic flavor etc...

People don't understand sugar is like 10x worse for you...

Honestly, the texture ruined it for me when I was a kid and I haven't gotten over it since. My hate is not rational, but I still hate it.

yep - if going low carb lifestyle

Real Mayo = 0 carbs - stick a spoon in it and eat all ya can handle
Light Mayo = a lot more carbs - so avoid it

WTF who hates on mayo?

Also what in the fuck does sugar have to do with it? It's not like they're mutually exclusive things.

But not all mayo has the same texture (and really depends on how it's applied as to it's texture when you're actually eating it, unless you're just eating mayo straight in which case WTF?).

Japanese mayo is the best.

Put some on rice and sprinkle shredded dried seaweed and sesame.

Hating the texture made me hate the taste. It was something I developed as a kid, I don't know why it happened. If I really wanted to, I'm sure I could learn to eat it but it's not worth the effort. It's a high calorie food so there's not real benefit to my health by eating it. I ask for burgers with no mayo and I don't eat potato salad. It's not that big of a deal and I cut a few grams of fat out of those meals. I also use vinegar based dressings (like Italian) on salads instead of ranch, so again it's a slightly healthier option.

When I was a kid I hated Mayo and loved Miracle Whip. As I got older I began hating Miracle Whip and loving Mayo. It's the rich creamy tartness that makes it so good.

I used to not eat mayo as a kid, but at some point I started trying everything again and was fine with it (my parents were idiots and got me to hate a lot of foods I didn't actually hate). If you can tell the texture of mayo on your food... you're using too much of it.

Miracle whip is just straight up nasty, and it works very poorly in things like deviled eggs. Now that it's more commonly known that eggs/fat isn't the end of the world, I don't know why in hell anyone would eat that stuff.

Aioli, is the bomb.

Dinner at the Lazy Dog the other night I had sweet potato tater tots with Jalapeno aioli, tasty stuff.

Mayo has its place though, but the amount used is crucial.

Commercial mayonnaise is nothing close to this.

And I've never seen a Mexican that didn't love mayonnaise. They could eat nothing but mayo and white bread and be perfectly happy until they died a grisly death from malnutrition.

Who knows? Some people can't handle closing their mouth down on something and having the white creamy salty goodness just explode with flavor all over their tongue.

Others just absolutely love it. :awe:
