why do people go to Subway?

Subway eaters are apparently sheep. They know it sucks, they know its overpriced (4 slices of paperthin "meat" and "cheese) yet they will defend it with their lives. Its all crap, its no better than a thousand other places that make a sub but actually taste good. You say we are fatter than subway eaters? Hell, if I paid 5 bucks for cardboard I would be thin too! Subway = fail crap = sheep.

I wonder what the iphone to subways eaters ratio is? 🙂

But really, anything beats subways, even blimpies.

I work across the street from one and I'm always baffled that it's packed during lunch time because you can walk a block further and go to a local pizza shop that makes their own (amazing) bread from scratch every day and piles on the meat on your sandwich. it may be $1.50 more than a Subway $5 footlong, but you're easily getting at least 3 times the meat/cheese if not more.

It's very possible that people are afraid that for the extra $1.50 they'll get the same amount of meat that they get at the Subway. That would be my concern. What Subway has going for it is that it's a known commodity and a Spicy Italian is only $5 and they'll load a salad onto it for you.

Same reason people go to McDonalds. Known quality/quantity.

if they have any other local option? 😕

this is something that has always confused the fuck out of me... is it just because it's a known quantity, that you can go to any Subway in the world and get the exact same 3 slices of meat and mediocre bread?

I wonder if you feel the same way about Quiznos?

it would be hilarious if you did not.

I feel the same about Quiznos.

Only fast food chain I eat at occasionally is Wendy's. They advertise greasy burgers for what they are, greasy burgers. MMMM I want a triple baconator!

You expected any different? There's probably at least one snob for just about any food.

Quaker Rice Cakes are WAY BETTERER than any other brand of rice cakes! Even rice cakes made by genuine oriental baking people, who, as we all know, inventively combined RICE and CAKE into AWESOME. I'm Quaker's bitch.

ITT: Snobby whiners that can't make a tasty sammich when given fucking tables full of ingredients to choose from.

i dont eat that stuff but one time i went with someone and watched them eat subway. he got a bacon sandwich. they cooked the bacon in the microwave so he got these pieces of bacon that were a combination of totally uncooked and totally overcooked. it was nasty and probably not very safe

Subway meatball sub is very good, toasted with cheese, add hot peppers. No local deli's nearby. I rather eat Subway anyday over MacDonalds or Burger King.

do any of you guys like fuddruckers? we went there a few days ago and it was really good, easily better than in n out or 5 dudes

I used to like their meatball sub until I got food poisoning that left me in the fetal position for 8 hours. So now I just get the roasted chicken breast sammie since they nuke that first. I'd advise nuking the meatball sub if you're going to eat that b/c it sits in this lukewarm (i.e. not hot enough) holder all day.

Edit: Or just request them to nuke it first.

Answer to OP's question:
It's convenient.

Not many people go out of their way to go to a Subway. But it's a less guilty alternative to other fast food joints, and while the food can be mediocre compared to other places, it's consistently mediocre. It's not the worst or best option, but hey, it's relatively cheap and usually at a convenient location.

The only time I've routinely gone to Subway is when I worked about a block from one during the summer. It was an easy option, and I do admit I love white chocolate macadamia cookies.

Which Subway was this? Every Subway I've gone to has had precooked bacon that they just reheat in the microwave.

it was the one in harvard square in cambridge ma. maybe youre right that the bacon was precooked and they just reheated in the microwave but it just wasnt precooked enough. are you in subway management or something/did i just get someone in trouble?

Subway tastes awfully corporate/bland to me. Even with pepper oregano etc they are just meh.

My favorite is Quiznos, but they're usually most expensive. Mr goodcents is good much better than subway.

absolutely cannot stand schlotzkys or whatever. Nasty bread.

Any Jimmy Johns...........oh god.............hipster crap.

don't have any good local places afaik
we have this thing called jasons deli but theyre national for all i know, and they're hipster crap too.

hipster = overpriced for what you get and people go there just cause they're so health conscious and cool and blah blah

Subway bacon is precooked. I have no idea what you are smoking

Fuddruckers is a giant family-style restaurant with massively inflated prices. They sell burgers that are what..1lb?

no way they are comparable to InNOut or 5 guys.
