Why do people get mad over France bashing, but not Christian bashing?

Just wondering? Awhile back I saw a thread over all the French bashing going on. Some people had a big problem with it. How come people dont have a big problem with all the Christian bashing going on around here. Its just as bad, if not worse.

well christian bashing has gone on for awhile so everyone's used to it, kinda like canadian bashing. french bashing has just picked up heavily recently, so it will take awhile for everyone to get used to it.

i get mad over christian bashing, but it is pointless to waste time arguing with people about it. they are going to say what they want (within limits) so more power to them.

nah, ever since that thread french bashing has slowed alot. And what gives you the right to Christian bash anyway? I think the difference is with canadians or french its all in good fun, or well atleast with canadians. Like how we talk about their tank. But the Christian bashing seems to be alot more malicious.

Basically the World hates Christian's. Why does the World hate Christians? Simple people have been fooled into believing in the falsehood that "there are many ways into heaven". They see Christian's as narrow minded for preaching that there is only one way into heaven. I will admit that there are MANY Christain's that are bigots, hypocrates(sp), and are too arogent, but you have to remember that these are just men and women and it is VERY easy to fall into Satan's traps and not even know it or worse know it and do nothing about it. Flame me if you want, but I am just telling it like it is.

The world hates me :( Oh well.

Edit: Does that give them the right to bash me and my religion? Why is it not tolerated for French but it is for Christians? Or better yet, why is it not tolerated for gays, but it is for Christians? ( Im not bashing gays, just making a point that being...) If I were to bash a gay person I would be flamed to death, however if someone bashed a Christian people just go about their buisness. Both are choices. Why do you get bashed for one and not the other? ( Again Im not bashing gays, just making a point)

As a Christian you should be able to deal with people hating you for your religion.

Think about it.. do the french whine when they're bashed? No, everyone who feels sorry for them do. No-one feels sorry for Christians, so when they get bashed, the Christians ignore it, and everyone else is the ones bashing.

Plus, if Christians get mad (ie whine/complain/bring up the point) about themselves being bashed, they'll look like whiners.

Because personal belives are what most people consider personal, and when someone starts to push their own personal belives on to you and start saying that you are wrong just because of a "feeling" then people tend to get ticked off.

when on this bored did anyone say you had to be Christian? I don't recall ever. No one tries to push their beliefs onto you, they simply let you know why they believe what they do.

Actually this has been rather restrained. I think your answer is that Christianity is by its nature exclusive. Not everyone likes that idea. People want "tolerence" and "inclusiveness". In other words, Christianity is incompatable with what is being promoted by society as acceptable. Now, if people feel that they deserve a place in heaven because they are good, or whatever, they might take issue with what most Christians believe is the criteria for admission to the Pearly Gates. Note this does not assume correctness of either side, however it is perception in these kinds of things that gets people riled up, and they tend to act badly. Now I personally have no desire to bash most anyone, but not everyone has my temperment.

I like your thoughts. I can tell your fairly intelligent, moreso then me : ) . This brings up another point of mine, or well sorta question. Ive done alot of thinking about this lately, it seems society is pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable and right. For instance there is more nudity on TV now. More swearing allowed. Amongst many other things. Why is Society changing whats acceptable and the norm so much and so rapidly now? And also do you believe these changes are for the better or worse?

Here's a thought...why not *IGNORE* "bashing"? Or failing that, try good-naturedly giving back as good as you get. Either option would sure beat bitching about it all the time...

Am I bitching about it? No, I was just asking a question. Go take a nap or something, take your anger or somewhere else.

I agree with what Hayabusarider had to say - Christianity is, by its nature, exclusive, and people naturally dislike things of that sort.

I get angry over both... both show ignorance and a lack of respect for the facts or for a balanced view of the world around us. I can be angry about Christianity occasionally, but the vast majority of my friends are Christians and I cannot discount or avoid the positive effects it has on them and on me.

The French are being bashed because many Americans feel the French owe them something for saving their necks in WWII.
