Why do people get crazy to make someone else rich on Black Friday?

I mean, Ive been at Best Buy, at 6am (yah, Im part of the craziness), then theres a line of like 200 people behind me, then comes the cutters, who line up right in front of the store in their own little line and try to get in before everyone who was waiting since 6am, and Best Buy doesnt seem to care. When they open the doors, people are running, literally running, pushing and shoving for items which they will probably not send in the rebates, since I read somewhere that only 5% of rebates are actually sent in. I don't get it. Please share your experiences

Went to Best Buy last year a 5am.

Line went around the building. Some people had been camping out since the night before.

Went right home and went to bed.. last time I ever bother with that.

Camping out since the night before? To save ~$50? This is just rediculous.

I think it is more like 50% of rebates are sent in and the Rebate companies only give out 5% of them without being called and reminded that they owe you money...speaking of which I need to contact Fuji....again

When cutters showed up the last couple of years at Best Buy, those of us who had been there since early had a little chat with the employees about fairness and the punks got shown the back of the line. Then the entire line burst into cheers and jeers at the cutting asshats.
