I just started using ebay a few days ago. I went there to buy a copy of Windows 98 SE. There are lots of copies for sale on ebay, all legal, shrinkwrapped, never used, never registered copies. After watching a couple of auctions expire, I noticed that it would be easy to get a copy for $75 and maybe $5 shipping. I got a copy for $75 with free shipping. I see other copies going for as high as $91. Why are people paying $91 for something they could just as easily get for under $80? Am I missing something here?

They get caught up in the bidding and forget how much they are paying for what they are getting, they just want to win the auction for the effort they put in.

Time of day matters, as does the day and the way the auction is worded.
Also the sellers location, and their feedback.
