why do people do this

why do people keep bidding on a product on e-bay way before the auction is over? what's the point? you are just driving the price up. Just wait til the last hour or so and start bidding. Either way, if you bid early, most likely you are going to get outbidded, but if you bid late then the price will end up being lower. am i right in thinking this??

anyways, i'm just bringing this up because i'm bidding on something and these two dorks are having a bidding war and just driving the price up for no reason!!

Most people on e-bay are stupid and don't know marketing/consuming principles to start out with. The power to instantly grap control of a situation is another influence.
