It does say "Shipping USPS to continental USA will be 8.00" in the main description, but that still doesn't explain the $45...

These auctions get reported and removed pretty quickly for violating eBay's policies on fee avoidance.

that's nothing compared to TigerDirect attempting to charge me $92 to ship a 2GB kit of RAM to me in Alaska. I know it's Alaska but $92??? Went to Newegg and they charged a more reasonable $7.45.

but really, you have to remember that ebay is full of idiots and scammers so a lot of the junk you see will never make any sense.

Yeah with eBay changin their fee structure, I'm sure we'll see a lot more of this happening.

Actually you'll see less of it, now that they tie-in your DSR (detailed seller ratings) to how often your items are shown in search results.

eBay knows full well that people have been padding shipping fees since the beginning of time. They also know that this results in reduced revenue for them, because they exclude shipping charges from FVF calculations, but bidders reduce their bid values to offset high shipping charges.

They will give greater weight to the DSR that corresponds to shipping and handling charges. If your customers feel you are padding S&H too much, they will give you lower DSRs in that category, and eBay will punish you with fewer appearances on search result pages.
