Why do people call computers "boxen"?

The plural of "box" is "boxes", not "boxen". Computers aren't cattle.

Does the word "boxen" cause anyone else picture a chubby guy with a beard who uses "high density diskettes" and "AT cases"?

Edgar, what's the plural of ox?

"Oxen. I saw some oxen."

Very good, now Brian, what's the plural of box?

"Boxen. I had two boxen of doughnuts!"

Edgar, what's the plural of goose?

"Geese. The farmer had some geese."

Brian, what's the plural of moose?

"...MOOSEN! I saw a flock of Moosen! Many much moosen! In the woods! In the woodsen! In the woodinisen!"

I use the term 'boxen' all the time.

Also frequently use "fsen" (filesystems) and "osen" (operating systems)
