Why do people call computers "boxen"?

The plural of "box" is "boxes", not "boxen". Computers aren't cattle.

Does the word "boxen" cause anyone else picture a chubby guy with a beard who uses "high density diskettes" and "AT cases"?

Never heard anyone call their computer boxen before.

I have heard and used the term "My Box", but never boxen...

I use the term 'boxen' all the time.

Also frequently use "fsen" (filesystems) and "osen" (operating systems)
