Why do people call and hang up when you pick up?

I experience this a lot, whenever me and my GF got in a fight she would call and hang up a cuple times a day. She admited to it. Today I think she did to check up on me while she was at work, probally to make shure i'm at home and not having fun. People with caller id usually don't do it .

that means, "I sort of want to talk to you, but what I really want is to know why you aren't calling ME so I can tell you off and then hang up on you."

Its possible its just somebody calling the wrong number. Once they hear a voice they don't recognize, they hang up. Just a thought.

bah i call people houses all the time different people answer the phone, not a good excuse for someone not to ask for that person.

my roomates g/f does this all the time. I think its really f!cking immature, especially since 4 people share the same phone. Its not like she's calling her boyfriends personal line or something. So I pick up, CLICK. 10 seconds later. Pick up CLICK. 10 seconds later. Pick up CLICK. 10 seconds later. I pick up and hang up. Twice in doing this I've hung up on legitimate calls all because she's so damn immature.

I think my roomate's g/f does this too, she's a rather unscrupulous character with a definate dislike for yours truely.

3. Really wanted to talk to your teen daughter, but you answered the phone.
4. Really wanted to talk to your husband, but damn, you answered the phone.
5. Someone was calling to ask you out, but changed their mind.
6. Someone was calling after you called to ask them out, but lost your nerve, then they lost theirs.
7. Neighbor called to chew your ass out, over your barking dog, but thought better of it.
8. Someone was gonna offer you a great new credit card, til the guy next to him elboed him and told him you have bad credit.
9. Called to tell you about the greatest new investment, but while reading the paper, saw you just filed for bankruptcy.
10. Called to sell you a new home, but just realised he saw you a couple hours ago, in front of a mcdonalds, begging for coffee money.

So, why do they hang up? LOL
