i don't get why people buy sequels to video games when they haven't finished the 1st one. it's like oh, this game is boring i've lost interest, but the same game except newer with different missions is coming out, let's not finish this one since its only the basis for the 2nd one....buy a game beat it buy the sequel. if the game isn't good enough to play thru why would you pay for the sequel?

Why do people let the actions of others bother them so much?

As to the question.... Because the sequel often has alot of improvements when compared to the earlier game?

Most sequels improve on the original.

I couldn't stand the unfairness of Hitman, but the second was much more enjoyable.
Grandia sucked...hard, but the second was fun

Plus...why do you care?

Not finishing a game != not enjoying it. It's possible to enjoy gameplay mechanics and just get stuck with a particularly difficult level or area. You certainly get less bang for your buck by not completing a game before moving on, but to some people, there's a time-benefit ratio where the diminishing returns for completion just aren't worth it.

i'd have to say GTA3 i know some people who are like these missions are really hard now, and junk like that they don't even do them anymore. i think the sequel should have just as hard if not harder missions...if the missions in the 1st one seem to hard or not entertaining enough idk, just doesn't make sense to me to buy an updated version where missions are most likely harder and in even more detail...idk

I never finished GTA3 and I'm buying Vice City. I sold GTA3 on ebay for $36.

The reason I sold it is because the camera-work was frustrating, and finding your way around levels was a pain in the ass. VC fixes these two issues, and others, and adds a lot more interesting features to the game. And it's in the 80's!!

But you can drive motocycle and helicopters in vice city. I know I didn't beat the first one yet, but think of the motocycles and helicopters....:)

Well in the case of Starcraft, I didn't play many of the missions. I bought the game for the multiplayer aspect. I purchased Brood War for the gameplay changes and unit additions. Sometimes the sequels or updates have more than just additional levels to pass.

Didn't finish Serious Sam 1, but finished Serious Sam 2. Not sure why, just did.

While the gameplay and intelligence (or lack thereof) of the computer wasn't difficult in any way, I actually enjoyed the storyline of both SC and BW.

Yeah but it's a friggin video game. I try to finish my games before I start on a sequel, but I lessen my enjoyment when I force myself to play a game I don't really feel like playing. This goes especially for games that aren't terribly plot-driven, and since playing video games is all about enjoyment, who cares if I finish one before I start the sequel?

At work I worry about finishing the job before I start the next job. I play video games as a diversion from work.

I don't think i've ever finished a video game. At least not without cheat codes. I mainly buy driving/action games, and I just like to mess around in the levels and stuff like that :p
