Think about it for a second... No matter what's in the news anymore it is always "because" of the sitting president... Doesn't anyone pay attention in school anymore. There are many different parts of the government, many levels, many different powers spread out.. So how is it one mans job, in most peoples mind, to ensure everyones complete and total happiness?

So just to clarify to those of you who don't understand..
The POTUS has very little to do with the economy. (which includes energy prices)
The POTUS has very little to do YOUR healthcare..
The POTUS has NOTHING to do with your local politics....
The POTUS has NOTHING to do with your childs education..

I could go on for days but it's pointless.. .

The president has not vetoed a single bill that has crossed his desk. Hence, the president has done absolutely nothing to roll back the government which affects the economy, education and healthcare. In fact, he has expanded the already bloated federal programs and signed into law the Patriot Act, one of the worst and freedom destroying bills in modern history.

If that was the case, Congress wrote the bill and the supreme court upheld it.. If I recall congress passed this bill quite easly...

Becuase hes stupid and looks like a chimp.

Seriously, with the country divided almost 50/50, the other side will do anything to try to get an advantage.

3>> He travels around the country supporting any local henchmen he may approve of..

So what? He could have vetoed it, but he didn't. He is just as guilty as the @ssholes in Congress.

Why do people blame the President? Because that figure is at the top. they always have the spot light on them. Its a person you see and hear about all the time.

its a two way street. Anything good they can claim its partly their doing. if so then they should take every bad that comes with it.

Your right the President has little to no control over things that goes on in this country.

IMO the President is the weakest position to be in between the three branches. the power lays in the hands of congress

the President can want and demand lots of things but if Congress doesn't care tough, too bad. Almost everything the President does Congress has the power to override. Whether they use it or not is a different matter.

yet most people can't even identify who their local representative is so what do you expect.

Plus its probably a lot easier for people to blame one person. than blame the 535 members of congress

Everyone needs a whipping boy. The difference between Presidents is that some deserve to me smacked more than others.

you know, i dont want to be a petty idiot but i really hate the POTUS and SCOTUS garbage.
just write it!
i mean, president isnt much longer.
supreme court isnt hard to type!

anyway, to answer the question, same reason bill gates gets blamed for all microsoft problems but no credit for anything. i dont think it helps that modern presidents seem incapable of actually taking blame while constantlt taking credit

I agree on everypoint except the patriot act. Most people that comment like that on the patriot act are merely spouting rhetoric they've heard/read. You realize EVERYTHING the patriot bill permits was permitted in this country pre 1977? From the early 60s to late 70s slowly one by one the congress voted to decrease the powers of our intel/law enforcement agencies.

Its nice to see people on either side of the political isle, able to criticise their own party's leaders. Anyway, for the most part I would agree with what you and dissipate are saying. However, I would like to say that just because the powers granted in the patriot act existed before in our nations history, does not make them any more appropriate today. There are arguements on both sides of the patriot act, but I don't think pointing to thier existence in the past, is a good one.
