When a 16 year old student going to community college for college and high school credit (just to answer why I'm even going to one) find it totally exciting when for my introduction I said I like to build computers?... Damn I knew I shouldn't have said that in class.

Because then this woman with an 11 year old child (age reference, she didn't bring the child) asked me about bittorrent...

Is it THAT amazing?

Update: Apparently the woman was so happy to discover the world of bittorrent from me, her 11 year old daughter is baking me cookies......

Yeah, some people (my mom) thinks one needs to have a degree in Electrical Engineering to swap a hard drive.
She also thinks if someone knows how to install Windows, they could consider Programming as a career option :)

Your case sounds weird. I mean, you are Asian right? Of course, you would know how to build a rocket...er..computer! ;)

Are these the same people that think going to community college means they are getting a good education?

Community colleges are fine if you transfer.
The basic pre-major courses are the same as any other school, if not better considering class sizes.
Community college, you get small classes, diverse environment, a real professor, instead of TA's teaching, and MUCH more interaction.

Amen to this. It's just one of those things that you have to keep to yourself. Barring that, find out what the going hourly rates are for tech support and tell everyone who asks you about your computer that you're going to charge them that amount.

That should thin the ranks quite nicely, and if people are willing to pay... well, who are you to deny yourself a little bit of money on the side?

Not only that, but "the guy who can fix her computer" is the EXACT OPPOSITE of "the guy who is her boyfriend".

As a former community college student, your lack of ability to understand that one sample is not enough to determine a trend in thousands of people and your horrible grasp of sentence structure scare me.

Of course, at my community college, something like five percent of the people in World History I copied their book reviews verbatim from Amazon.com.

A wise man once said, "The hardest thing to do at a community college is cheat on a test... Because all the people you can cheat off of ALSO go to a @#$%ing community college."

Just saying... :D

Ya, but can you turn a peice of string into clothing?

Different people know different things. Be glad that's true, because if everyone knew everything half of ATOT wouldn't have a Job or hope for a Job.

Why should they bother doing something a trained monkey can do when they have you to do it for them?
